Preview Nintendo Puzzle Collection
- By Dan Doll [Editor In Chief]
This month, Japanese gamers revel in nostalgia as Nintendo releases its 3-in-1 Puzzle Collection for Nintendo Gamecube.
Puzzle Collection comes to the table with new, prettier versions of Dr. Mario, Yoshi's Cookie, and Panel De Pon (Tetris Attack).
Dr. Mario is the classic pill dropping, virus popping puzzle game that's still controlling the life of NGenre's Editor Tariq Bashir. As the number of viruses gets higher, the game gets even faster, and eventually you'll be soaking your blistered thumbs in a sink full of warm water.
Yoshi's Cookie is what you'd have if you took a Rubik's Cube and mashed it down to two dimensions. Players move the columns and rows of a tile grid, matching entire lines to start clearing the board. Only with this game, you can't just peel off the stickers and put them on the side you want, you'll actually have to figure it out!
Finally, Tetris Attack was perhaps the most fun of the Tetris spin-offs in that it went out on its own and came back with something unique. Players are given a field of tiles, like with Yoshi's Cookie, and by switching adjacent tiles two at a time, players can match 'em up and get rid of them.
Currently, there is no word if Nintendo Puzzle Collection will make it out of Japan, but let's keep our fingers crossed.
