Preview  Depachika
- By Dan Doll [Editor In Chief]

Set to release in Japan June 27, Depachika is a handheld, one-player card/mahjongg title for Gameboy Advance.

Depachika's storyline is something like this: you're the cook for a department store's underground food floor.

That's right.

And you can play against three other beautiful lady cooks who also happen to be sisters.

Beat the sisters in seven games based on Japanese flower cards, mahjongg tiles, and western cards to unlock photos of the chefs with their foods.

What's more, the three sisters each have different playing techniques. The eldest, a Chinese food specialist, relies on offense over defense. The woman of European cuisine is the well-balanced player, and the youngest chef goes on the defense when she's not busy whipping up some Japanese grub.

Set to release in just three days for 3,980 yen (roughly fourteen thousand American dollars), Depachika will be delighting Japanese gamers for some time.

Mahjongg? Check. Babes? Check. Quirky, Japanese gaming tastes? Check.

It's just too bad they couldn't squeeze big-head horse racing in there, too.
