Preview Pac-Man Fever

Update: 5/22/02
Namco's Pac-Man Fever takes the unlikely form of a party board game.
As the story goes, those darn Pac ghosts have stolen the Mini-Games trophy and it's up to the player to take control of one of three game boards to win it back.
Featuring a total of five characters (Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and characters from Soul Caliber, Ridge Racer, and Tekken), players make their way around the board, advancing more spaces for placing better in the mini-games.
The games take place at the end of each turn rotation and include hurdle races, coin catching, whack-a-mole, and even a version of freeze tag where the person who is 'it' the least wins.
To add some depth, players will win tokens that can be used to advance further on the board, to send other players back, or to unlock mini-games. When it's all said and done, the first person to the finish is the winner.
The graphics aren't the best, but they're nothing to frown at, either. The game board rests in a desert land fit with pyramids and elephants in the background. There are also trees with leaves blowing in the wind and a water location with a floating boat.
Pac-Man Fever is scheduled for release this fall.
Coming off the moderately successful title, Pac-Man World 2, Namco has announced its newest entry, Pac-Man Fever.
Slated for release on both Nintendo Gamecube and Sony Playstation, Pac-Man Fever will be a party game (i.e. Mario Party) featuring characters from Namco's Tekken, Ridge Racer, Soul Calibur, Pac-Man, and Ms. Pac- Man.
According to GameSpot, "Up to four players can play at once in 30 different minigames. There will be three different boards to play on, and the object of the game is to recover minigames stolen by the ghosts from the Pac-Man franchise."
We'll try to have screens for you soon, and we'll be able to get closer to the title at E3.
