Preview  Super Monkey Ball (GBA)
- By Dan Doll [Editor In Chief]

THQ is publishing Sega's Super Monkey Ball for Gameboy Advance, and the game was shown off at this year's E3.

The first big surprise is that the game is in full 3D.

The graphics are crisp on the small screen, and the levels do indeed tip back and forth in three dimensions.

The game fits one to four players and offers both standard and minigame modes.

The standard mode is nearly identical to the Gamecube version, save for any powerful processing effects only possible on the Cube.

The biggest problem with the game is the digital control.

Controlling the rolling monkey without analog ability makes reaching the goals much harder.

A level that was straight forward on the Cube becomes difficult when players can't turn or slow down with the precision of the 128-bit version.

Super Monkey Ball for Gameboy Advance is one of two Monkey Ball titles in development. The other, Super Monkey Ball 2 is coming for Gamecube and was also shown here at E3.
