Editorials   MadCatz Flip Light
- By Dan Doll

One of the newest GBA peripherals is the Flip Light from MadCatz.

Released just this month, the Flip Light comes at you with a compact design and spring loaded light mechanism.

As you can see in the picture, the Flip Light doesn't light up the whole screen evenly. While that's pretty common amongst GBA lights, it's not common to have the top and bottom right corners as the ones in darkness.

Luckily, the light is strong enough to at least reach these corners, making midnight play quite possible.

Featuring a pass-through port for multiplayer gaming, the light weight Flip Light folds into itself atop the GBA, and if one wanted, it could be left there at all times. It's so small that it's not ugly, and it could be convenient to leave it attached.

After a simple tug, the spring loaded light shoots up quickly to its upright position. If it's not anchored in properly the light won't come on, but normally just opening it up turns it on.

The light is somewhat smaller than most GBA lights, and can only be adjusted to a minimal degree.

In its default state, however, the light reaches enough of the screen to make things playable. Like with most lights, sacrificing a bit of glare near the top of the screen allows for the brightest overall picture.

While the Flip Light may not offer the best screen coverage, its design is certainly sleaker than most, making it one of the more stylish lights available.

The Flip Light is available in stores now with MSRP of $9.99.

From MadCatz.com:
The Mad Catz Flip Light sheds some light on the situation! The Flip Light illuminates your Gameboy Advance screen for your late night gaming sessions. The low profile design keeps it out of the way when not in use and the pass through port ensures you won't miss any multi-player action.

Features:
~ Great for late night gaming
~ Quick release spring loaded button
~ Conveniently folds & stores on game
~ Pass through port for multi-player action
~ Turns on when flipped up
